Chlorine Dioxide has been approved for use by the FDA, USDA, EPA, and CDC.

CDO acts as a killing agent of pathogenic organisms.”
“Chlorine dioxide and chlorite are strong oxidizing agents used as drinking water disinfectants and to bleach textile and wood pulp for paper manufacturing. In general, human ingestion studies have found no adverse effects in adults and neonates living in areas with chlorine dioxide-disinfected water”
